In this session, Dr. Bateman returns to examine and discuss recent policy changes and key litigation in Washington as they reshape how schools serve students with learning disabilities. He will highlight the practical impact these developments have on daily practice and student outcomes. Participants will walk away with actionable strategies to advocate for and support students with LD in the face of evolving expectations, compliance requirements, and heightened scrutiny of district practices.

Dr. David Bateman


Dr. Bateman is the Vice President for the Division for Learning Disabilities of the Council for Exceptional Children and an expert in special education law. A former hearing officer and professor, he supports districts in litigation, compliance, and programming. He has authored key books and developed federal IEP guidance after Endrew F.
